Summary
To improve pass rates and job opportunities for shift workers, designing a solution in a 4-week sprint that helps users get trained, qualified, find and apply for shift work in the security industry.
The result being an MVP benchmark application that supports the Get Licensed offer, securing more investment, funding and growing the members and users of the GuardPass app. The outcome was to supply Elixel with development-ready screens that would support the client with shipping the product.
My role
Commissioned by Elixel, I had the opportunity to design end-to-end prototyped journeys for stakeholder review. I created wireframes that translated the UX research and discovery, aiding in identifying patterns and solutions that would shape my final app designs.
List of responsibilities included:
Developing discovery findings and translating them into wireframes.
Crafting navigational structures and information architecture.
Designing interaction elements and micro animations.
Establishing a design system and component library.
Mapping user journeys using Miro.
Creating high-fidelity designs.
Building prototypes to validate our solutions.
The challenge
Understanding the requirements of both job seekers and employers was paramount. This involved providing job seekers with the ability to search and view available positions before committing to signing up and creating an account.
Additionally, gathering requirements and business needs entailed integrating educational, training, and booking functionalities within the app.
For employers and businesses, it was essential to gather all relevant requirements, including background checks, right to work information, and work and educational history.
Furthermore, in-depth analysis was conducted to comprehend the needs of users requiring mock exams, training, and exam preparation to obtain SIA licensing.
Solution
Engaged with stakeholders to gather business and user requirements.
Identified core journeys and user flows, mapped using Miro.
Visually articulated key screen templates, journeys, and navigation.
Participated in a 4-week design sprint that delivered the final UI to developers.
Impact and outcome
Customers
The Guardpass app, as of 2023 has over 100,000 users, validating our solution and helping users to become qualified and secure work.
Business
The successful development of both the mobile app and employer dashboard played a pivotal role in securing funding for Get Licensed, resulting in a substantial investment of over £4 million. This financial boost enabled them to scale their operations significantly, solidifying their position as the leading marketplace for security professionals and training in the UK – Elixel
